Get started with Synq

Synq creates trading card products in your Shopify store, prices them from live TCGplayer market data, and keeps those prices current. You add a card once, and Synq builds the Shopify product from your template and prices every condition from the market. From then on the price stays up to date through automatic repricing or a one-click sync, while you stay in control with your pricing strategy and price rules.

The only thing you need is a Shopify store. You do not need a TCGplayer account, and you can be listing cards a few minutes after installing.

What you need

You do not need a TCGplayer account to use Synq. Synq reads TCGplayer market prices for you and applies them to the products it creates in your store. You never sign in to TCGplayer or connect an account, because the market data is part of Synq.

You also do not need a TCGplayer seller account. Synq does not list anything on TCGplayer and does not connect to a seller account. It only uses market prices as the reference for pricing your Shopify products. For more on how that pricing works, see how Synq prices your cards.

What you actually need:

  • A Shopify store.
  • Synq installed from the Shopify App Store.
  • The games you sell selected in your catalog settings.

That is everything.

The terms you will see

A handful of terms come up throughout the help center:

  • Market price: the live TCGplayer price for a specific card, set, printing and condition. Every Synq price starts here.
  • Pricing strategy: how you position against the market, either Market price, Market plus a percent, or Market minus a percent. See how Synq prices your cards.
  • Price rules: floors, ceilings and rounding that keep automated prices safe and tidy. See price rules.
  • Repricing: updating prices to current market data, either automatically once a day on Pro and Scale, or in one click on any plan. See keep prices current.
  • Product template: the saved format Synq fills in to create each product, including title, description, category and SKU. See product templates.
  • Printing: the version of a card, for example Normal, Foil or 1st Edition. Each printing has its own price.
  • Condition: the grade you sell, for example Near Mint or Lightly Played. You can price and stock each condition separately. See adding products to your store.
  • Singles vs sealed: individual cards versus sealed product like booster boxes. Synq handles both. See adding products to your store.

Install Synq

  1. Open the Synq listing on the Shopify App Store.
  2. Click Add app and approve the access it asks for, so Synq can create and update products in your store.
  3. You land on the Synq dashboard.

Installing Synq does not change any of your existing products.

Set up before you add products

The one required step is choosing your games. The first time you open Synq, it shows a Welcome to Synq page where you pick the games you sell, for example Magic: The Gathering, Pokemon or Disney Lorcana. Save it and you are in.

Before you add products in bulk, set up your product template first. Every product Synq creates is built from it, so getting the template right up front means you do not have to redo products later. A good order to set up:

  1. Set up your product template: the title, description and any optional extras like category, SKU and barcode used for every product you add.
  2. Configure pricing: your pricing strategy and optional price rules.
  3. Choose collections: where new singles and sealed products land. See choose your games and collections.
  4. Add your first products: list your cards.

Sensible defaults are already in place, so you can change settings later, but the template is the one thing worth setting before you add products in bulk.

Add your first cards

Go to Add products, search by name, set or collector number, pick the printing and conditions, and add them. Synq creates the Shopify product from your product template and prices each condition from the market. For the full walkthrough, including singles, sealed, conditions and stock, see adding products to your store.

Keep prices current

As you add cards, Synq prices them from the market. To keep them current afterward, use Sync all prices on the Products page on any plan, or turn on automatic daily repricing on Pro or Scale. See keep prices current.

If you are moving an existing catalog over from spreadsheets or manual entry, see migrating from manual pricing.

Frequently asked questions

No. Synq provides the TCGplayer market data for you. You only need your Shopify store to install and use Synq. Synq does not connect to a TCGplayer seller account and does not list anything on TCGplayer.
How long does it take to set up Synq?
Most stores are ready in a few minutes. You install the app, pick the games you sell, set up your product template, then start adding cards. Synq prices each card from the market as you add it.
Will installing Synq change my existing products?
No. Synq does not touch existing products. New products you add through Synq follow your template and pricing, and the price sync only updates the price, nothing else.
